Vendor reports jewelry theft from antique store in Benton (Benton Evening News)
The Benton Police Department is investigating a report of a jewelry theft from a vendor at a local business. Antiques & Collectibles: Geisha porcelain still good find for some (Post-Bulletin)
Beginning in the late 19th century, geisha girl porcelain was one of several key Japanese productions made for export. Virginia Kranz, co-owner of the Old Rooster Antique Mall in Rochester, said that after World War II, the pieces, which were marked "Occupied Japan," were very inexpensive, selling for around $1.25 for a cup and saucer in dime stores such as Woolworth's in the United States.
